Are We Going to Face a Global Water Crisis

Water is the source of all life on our planet, and the terrifying truth is – there might not be enough of it for us to live forever as a species. We’ve dealt so much damage to our planet with irresponsible behavior over the last century or so that most of the things are damaged beyond repair. However, does that mean that we are going to face a global water crisis? Well, let’s find out.

How Likely Is For This To Happen?

Whether you want to hear this or not – likelihood is not something you should be worried about because a global water crisis is bound to happen sooner or later. Some parts of the world are already in the early stages of being depleted from safe drinking water in the next 100 years or so.

At this point, it is no longer a matter of believing in it or not since facts are clearly showing that we are at the front door of another global crisis, only this one might prove to be a lot more deadly than the one we’re in today.

However, not everything is so bleak. The global water crisis could also mean that politicians’ advisors and assistants won’t be able to joke around holding a giant ice penis in front of a mannequin because there will be no water left to freeze.

All jokes aside, this crisis is upon us, whether we like it or not, and it is up to us to do as much as we can to prevent it from happening. Or, if that’s not possible, at least postpone it long enough until we find a way to convert ocean water into drinking water.

But, we’ll leave that discussion for another time. Now, let’s take a look at some of the clear indicators that this crisis is upon us.

Climate Change

The climate change we’re experiencing is warming up our planet, little by little, with each passing day. This has led to some significant changes that have made the dry areas drier, but at the same time, it has also made the participation more severe in some areas. Essentially, equatorial regions are getting drier by the day, and the areas with lots of participation are in a constant state of fear from being flooded.

Increase In Population

This is a simple math predicament – the more people there are on planet Earth, the greater the need for water. We’re sitting at about 7.5 billion as of this moment, but by the time we hit 2050 – we’ll be closing in on 10. Will we be able to sustain all of this life? Well, if we continue down this path – we probably won’t.

Depletion Of Groundwater

About a third of Earth’s freshwater reserves lie underneath the surface, and those reserves are getting depleted at an alarming pace. We’re extracting groundwater at an unsustainable pace, and all things considered – that is only going to get worse. According to some projections, in about 50 years, almost half of the world’s groundwater wells will be in critical condition.

Final Verdict

Unfortunately, at this point, the question isn’t whether we’re going to face a global water crisis – it’s when. If we don’t make any changes in the near future, there won’t be a future for us to look forward to.
