Deputy Secretary of State James B. Steinberg will begin a week-long trip to Colombia and Peru on Monday, January 11. Both countries are important partners of the United States and have contributed greatly to our shared goals in the region.

Deputy Secretary Steinberg will then travel to Peru, where he will meet with high level Peruvian officials on January 14. The Deputy Secretary plans to discuss the bilateral relationship, U.S. programs in Peru, and ways to deepen cooperation based on shared values and interests, including democracy, counternarcotics, trade, and economic development.
