| February 11, 2012: The U.S. Soldiers participated in a U.S. Army South-sponsored Subject Matter Expert Exchange with the Belize Defense Force and the Belize Coast Guard Service near Belmopan, Belize, Feb. 6-17. During the two-week exchange, the Belizeans trained the Soldiers in patient evacuation techniques in a jungle environment such as high angle evacuations using rappelling techniques, confined space evacuations in caves and swift water river evacuations. The U.S. Soldiers reciprocated the training by educating the Belizeans in trauma casualty care to boost the BDF’s knowledge and ability to effectively treat combat related casualties in a hostile environment.
