| May 10, 2011: U.S. Air Force Gen. Douglas Fraser, Commander of U.S. Southern Command, presented the Department of Defense's Legion of Merit medal to Barbados Defence Force Chief of Staff, Col. Alvin E. Quintyne, during a formal award ceremony May 10 at Barbados Prime Minister Freundel Stuart's headquarters. Fraser presented the medal on behalf of the U.S. Secretary of Defense in recognition of Quintyne's contributions to promoting Caribbean security cooperation, and bolstering the capacity of Barbados Defence Force from September 2003 through April 2009.
