October 5, 2010: CHIRIQUI GRANDE, Panama (Oct. 4, 2010) Capt. Thomas Negus, commodore of Continuing Promise 2010, escorts the President of Panama Ricardo Martinelli aboard the multi-purpose amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7). Iwo Jima is anchored off the coast of Panama to conduct a Continuing Promise 2010 humanitarian civic assistance mission. August 25, 2010: NORFOLK (Aug. 24, 2010) Gen. Douglas Fraser, commander of U.S. Southern Command, arrives aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) for a guided tour. Fraser is visiting Norfolk to meet with the U.S. Second Fleet commander and other participants of the multi-national training exercise PANAMAX 10. August 23, 2010: PEARL HARBOR (Aug. 23, 2010) The Virginia-class attack submarine USS Texas (SSN 775) returns to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam after completing a scheduled deployment to the U.S. 4th Fleet area of responsibility. Texas completed her maiden deployment to the eastern Pacific Ocean and operated under the tactical control of Joint Inter-Agency Task Force, South from May to Aug. 2010.
